Welcome to Motion Graphics Animation Studio 1 & 2! Art Studio 388/488 is a combined section of Motion Graphics Animation. This means that both introductory and advanced levels meet at the same time. The course will use one shared website in combination with a shared D2L site for all students in 388/488.
As the course is introduced, there will be more information about the different expectations for first and second semester motion graphics students. The primary difference is that students in 488 will be expected to work more independently and although the majority of their projects will come from the similar prompts, the work will demonstrate a higher level of technical and conceptual sophistication.
The course syllabus is available on this website and on the course D2L site. For the first class meeting, we will work our way through the syllabus. A course syllabus outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures of the course. It is important that everyone is familiar with this information and knows how to to find what they need as we get started for the semester.
We will use the course website extensively this semester. It will be used a number of different ways, but primarily will serve as the location for information and notes on what we talk about and work on each class session. If there are any mistakes or missing information, ask the professor because he is responsible for updating and maintaining the site.
The 2051 Computer lab is our primary point of contact. Everything we need should be available in the lab. Although it might not be included directly in coursework for 388/488, we may use the Photo/Video Studio and Motion Capture Studio in Andersen for some advanced projects. Any equipment you might need in the creation of motion graphics projects, if not available in the studio should be accessed through the UWW Media Lab which includes A/V Equipment Checkout.
Open lab hours will be posted as soon as they are available. Our primary software, After Effects, should be available on most campus computer lab machines that include the Adobe Creative Suite. It is not likely that high quality digital printing is necessary for 388/488 but will be available through the the department during open lab hours.
