Artboards and Reformatting

This assignment is designed to test your ability to reformat content from an Illustrator file. It will require you to copy/paste, duplicate layers, organize layers, resize artwork, and use multiple artboards. You will be provided with a work file that has one artboard for one side of a die (downloadable as ZIP here). Create an artboard of the same size to show all sides of a flattened cube. Create size more artboards at half the size of the other two to allow you to design each face of a die. Copy or duplicate and then modify the design to show each number that would appear on a regular six-sided die. One face should be on each artboard. Copy the face designs and organize the layout for the flattened cube. At the end of the assignment you will export multiple artboards and create a ZIP file that contains all eight images.

Objectives:

• Demonstrate understanding of work flow for reformatting content and using artboards

Process:

• Download and open the assignment work file from our website
• Examine the work file contents
• Use the Artboard Tool to create more artboards, there should be eight total
• two artboards at 400px X 400px
• six artboards at 200px X 200px
• name artboards appropriately
• Copy and modify die face layout (you may change colors etc)
• Design and develop all six faces of die, one on each of the smaller artboards
• Copy and layout six faces into flattened cube layout (t shape)
• Export as PNG
• Select "Use Artboards"
• "lastname_TechArtboards.png"
• Select all exported artboard PNGs
• Control+Click on selected PNGs
• Select "Compress X Items"
• "lastname_TechArtboards.zip"
• Submit one ZIP
