Scanning Sketches

This assignment introduces the use of the digital scanner. Each work station in the lab should have a scanner attached. A scanner essentially creates a digital photo of whatever is placed on its surface. For our coursework, it will be required to scan in your sketches and drawings so that they can be converted, by hand, to vector graphics. For this assignment, you should have a drawing or sketch from our in class drawings in your sketchbook that you can scan. To complete your work, submit the digital image of your drawing.

Objectives:

• Demonstrate understanding of use of digital scanner

Process:

• Check that scanner is attached to computer, plugged in, and is turned on
• Open application "Image Capture" to scan
• Place sketchbook open to drawing on scanner bed
• Switch to scan details view
• Scan settings:
• Black and White
• 330ppi
• Adjust scan selection to fit drawing
• Scan as PNG or JPG
• Submit assignment upon completion
• Submit one PNG or JPG (Web Safe)
• "lastname_TechScan.png"

• 50 points – Requirements
• Meets Requirements
• Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform technical process introduced in the assignment
• Basic (30pts) - Mid Level (40pts) - Advanced (50pts)
