Project 2 Finalzing

The first 45 minutes of class will be set aside for students to finalize and render their project. There will not be enough time to do extensive animation and editing. A brief overview of rendering will be demonstrated. After your file is ready, play it back to review the animation before submitting. One your work is complete and submitted, please wait until the screening program and discussion begins.

Project 2 Submission

Use the dropbox on D2L to submit a copy of your final versions of Kinetic Type and Kinetic Alphabet. In the event your file is too large, transfer the work manually to the instructor station or share a link.

Kinetic Type/Alphabet Project Screening, Critique, and Discussion

We will screen each video one at a time - in a screening program format. We will order everything with 488 Alphabet first, then 388 Type. After screening all the work, we will go back to each one again with time to add some of the observations, questions, and general feedback. Depending on the total duration of the collective works, there may be a short break during the critique and discussion.

Considerations for screening and critique:

• Are the animated loops timed effectively?
• Is the visual style effective/appealing?
• How does the designer's approach to animated letterforms reflect their creative voice?
• Are the animation of individual letterforms, groups of letters, and the entire character set consistent with each other?
• 388
• Audio/Visual Timing and Sync
• Audio/Visual Relationship Style, Expressive Qualities
• Does the animation reflect the spoken words in an visually interesting way?

Class will conclude after the screening program and discussion/critique.
