Kinetic Alphabet Project

Develop an animated typeface where each text character moves in its own unique way. Although letter is developed and treated in an individual way, there should be some continuity between the group as a whole and have the same aesthetic style. The work could be generated through 2D or 3D animation processes depending on the student’s skillset. Final presentation of the kinetic alphabet should include examples of the entire typeface, some individual characters, and some character groupings or words.

Your kinetic alphabet will include the following elements
• Selection and development of illustrated type style and animation
• Purposeful and considered selection of shapes and color
• Basic property transformations for animation with keyframes
• Well-developed sense of timing and pace
• Development of audio to match animated effects

Requirements

• Appx 3-60 seconds animated motion graphic video
• Entire character set (alphabet), Highlight individual letters, Letter groupings or words
• Visuals focused on the transformation and animation of typographic characters synced to audio
• Submitted as “lastname_kinetictype.mov” or “lastname_kinetictype.mp4”
• Share to online Vimeo Group

• Class 13 - Animation Drafts, Critique w/ 388
