In-Progress Critique for Infographic Visualization Project

During your work time, you will share your in progress work with other students. This will be done in a relatively informal way. There will be a list of assigned pairings for one-on-one with your peers. Share your projects with each other. Our goal is to address the following:

• aesthetic design of graphics/illustrations and sequence
• project feedback
• process questions
• quality of animation
• relationship between animation and information

Students may also conduct in-progress critique with more students during the work session. As you get more work done, consider how feedback from your peers can be useful for developing your work.

Strategies for Transitions in Animation

As you develop your project, you will need to consider how animate between some of the different sections of the total sequence. If you are using pre-compositions (recommended) then you will need a strategy to move from one pre-comp to the next. The following are some considerations for transitions in project development:

• Pre-Compositions
• Layer Solids
• Zoom/Scale
• Animating Shape Layer Paths
• 3D Rotation
• Using the Composition Frame Effectively

Project Work and Individual Assistance

The remaining portion of today's class session will be devoted to project work time. Take advantage of your in-class work time and leave room to take a break. For explainer and info graphic animation projects, exporting/rendering sections and playing them on a loop is helpful. Also getting some distance from the work can help decrease some of the monotony of information heavy projects.
