Tues May 01 - Class 27

Reading Discussion

For this week's reading and discussion topic, you are asked to review the website for the Overpass Light Brigade. As with the work of Adbusters discussed last week, this group uses art/design/media as a way to share a political/social message. The Overpass Light Brigade is also a more local organization, having orginated in the Milwaukee area. To help get you thinking about their work, we will screen a video(s) the organization has produced about their work.

Work Time and Project Share

During today's class session work on your project. As you develop your project, consider how you would like to share your work with others. It is encouraged that you take some time for in-progress critique and feedback from other students. During the work session, we will take a break and everyone will have the opportunity to move around and talk about different projects. Spend some time viewing and talking with someone else, including perhaps people you haven't talked to about motion graphics projects yet. Ask about what they are working on. Each person's work will be quite different because the project is very open in its requirements. The content objective is to create a commercial that includes a variety of media that is composited together. Our contextual framework is to model the work after existing commercials and branding while presenting an alternative view or perspective. Focus your efforts first on the things you already know how to create and then expand from there to include what you might need to develop your project.
